Participants seated and listening to the retreat Master

Caritas Nigeria along with other agencies of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria resumed back from the Christmas holiday on the 6th of January, 2021 to commence their traditional Annual retreat the next day.

The two-day retreat (7 – 8th January, 2021) was facilitated by the Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, His Lordship Bishop Hilary Nanman Dachelem, a versatile and charismatic cleric who drilled participants on the team work in the context of working for a Catholic organization.  Using Ecclesiastes 4: 9 -12 as the anchor scripture for his teachings, the Bishop admonished participants to uphold integrity and dignity while also arming themselves with the Catholic social teachings.

In furtherance of Caritas Nigeria’s status as gender-friendly organization and the growing importance of gender matters in the society, the retreat was preceded by a short training on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) for all staff.

The event was wrapped up with a general staff meeting chaired by Fr. Uchechukwu Obodoechina, the Executive Secretary/CEO of Caritas Nigeria. The staff thereafter dispersed to their various destinations after the meeting.
