Caritas Nigeria in partnership with her Community-Based Organisation (CBO), Centre for Family Health Initiative (CFHI) on the 22nd of June, 2022 restored learning pleasure to Umuodu Community School, Mbieri in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo State by providing three-seater desks for the pupils sit and learn conveniently during classes.

Umuodu school

Prior to the intervention, the school faced the challenge of inadequate seats which led to pupils sitting and learning in a clustered  and awkward positions as they shared seats during classes. This ugly situation was observed by Carita’s implementing partner for the Orphans and Vulnerable Children under the 4Gates programme during the school’s quarterly educational performance assessments visit.

Historically, the school  has served as an early childhood formal learning center for the Umuodu community since 1923. The school is now publicly owned and controlled by the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria.
