Reducing the incidence of irregular migration and improving the safety of vulnerable populations in Nigeria requires a comprehensive approach that addresses the root causes of vulnerability that is often crisis related. In our drive to achieve integral human development, Caritas Nigeria considers Irregular Migration and Protection programming for crisis-affected communities crucial for ensuring vulnerable populations’ safety and wellbeing. 

As the Catholic Church’s specialized humanitarian agency that promotes the dignity of the human person, Caritas Nigeria designs and implements significant protection and migration programs that have created a supportive environment where migrants and forcefully displaced individuals and families rebuild their lives with dignity, security, and access to meaningful opportunities. We achieve these by providing anti-human trafficking interventions, psychosocial support to survivors, economic empowerment programs, legal assistance, child protection, and sexual and gender-based violence response. Our target beneficiaries are assisted to settle into safe and secure communities in Southern and Northern Nigeria.
