March 8 every year is marked as International Women’s Day (IWD), a day when women all over the world are celebrated for their symbolic being. With the theme: Embrace Equity, Caritas Nigeria joined the rest of the world to remember her women who despite other demanding tasks, contribute efficiently in reaching out to those most in need.
At Caritas Nigeria’s head office in Abuja, the commemoration of IWD was heralded by a holy Mass celebrated by our Deputy Executive Secretary, Rev. Fr. Peter Babangida Audu, in appreciation for women’s efforts.
The Caritas Nigeria team in Benin City made a presentation on the theme of IWD2023 to female returned migrants, who are currently enrolled in vocational skills and entrepreneurship training. The session exposed participants to the importance of integrating technology in their respective workspaces and utilizing social media platforms and tools to bridge gaps in the business world. The interactive gathering also had them learn how to open and use social media business accounts to promote their businesses.
Caritas Nigeria’s female staff took the moment to reflect on their uniqueness and encourage everyone to Embrace Equity.
Interestingly, Caritas Nigeria’s male staff have also pledged their continuous support to the professional development of their female counterparts for a better society and progressive working environment.
Embracing equity means facing the truth that in our society, all people rarely start from a level playing ground. So, if we embrace and work toward equity, it means working towards each individual getting the skills and resources that could help them to succeed in all endeavors.
