Commemorating 2021 International Women’s Day

Caritas is joining the rest of the world to mark in a special way come March 31, this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) with special activities aimed at creating awareness and promoting the contributions of women to humanity and development.

 The Campaign theme for this year’s IWD is “Choose to Challenge”. Activities lined up for the day will include:
 A uniform dress code for Caritas staff – white with a touch of purple;
 Decoration of offices in symbolic colours;
 Special prayers and booking of masses for all women who have suffered or paid the supreme price fighting for the cause of women;
 Thanksgiving and special prayers for all women that work for Caritas Nigeria and the Church agencies in Nigeria with procession by all women and staff of Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria;
 massive dissemination of sensitization materials and activity on the social media and other relevant communication channels.

The above activities will be mainstreamed into the organization’s programming and will be replicated across all facets of her interventions (project locations, states and offices nationwide).

To drive home the theme for this year’s event, there will be  #ChooseToChallenge walk for equality at the country office in Abuja with all Caritas women (staff) participating and their mail counterparts led by the Executive Secretary providing needed support and solidarity. There will also be a high-level sensitization Webinar targeting all staff, beneficiaries and all stakeholders within her circle of influence. The climax will be a Press Conference.
