To create awareness and end sexual violence among girls, Caritas Nigeria, under the NO Means NO program (one of Caritas Nigeria’s response mechanisms to gender-based violence), organized a 2-week training for 33 female instructors in Imo state.
The training sought to enhance the skills and capacities of the participants, who will work in high-risk environments and communities, to effectively deliver sexual and Gender Based Violence prevention services to girls aged 10–20.
Through this program, which is a component of our ACCESS project funded by The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and CDC, girls increase their skills in assertiveness, boundary setting, and understanding of their rights, and develop the verbal and physical skills to defend themselves in threatening situations.
