Come September 22, 2022, the Board, Management, and staff of the Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria (CCFN), will mark in a special way Caritas Nigeria Day.
The date which corresponds with the formal inauguration of the Foundation and the approval of its operational frameworks by the Corporate Affairs Commission twelve years ago is envisioned to annually help the organization keep track with its mandates, assess processes and practices, and showcase the same to the world.
The key activity for this year is a symposium on the theme “The Church in the Service of Integral Human Development: The Nigeria Experience”. This choice of this theme is inspired by the Holy Father, Pope Francis who, in 2017 during the 50th anniversary of Justitia et Pax created a super-dicastery for promoting Integral Human Development, a measure meant to ensure “sensitivity for peace, commitment to justice, and solidarity with those who are most vulnerable such as migrants and refugees…”.
The proposed symposium which will be led by His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan will highlight on a constructive note, the effort of the Church in Nigeria in promoting integral human development in areas like health, governance, justice, education, migration, and family and human life among many other areas of concern.
The venue of the event is the Resource Centre of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria and will commence from 10 AM.
Other activities lined up for the day include a Gallery Walk showcasing recent and past works of Caritas Nigeria in various thematic areas and in different parts of the country and a Thanksgiving Mass.
