Empowering Young Men to Combat GBV: Caritas Nigeria’s ‘No Means No’ Intervention.

Share:

Throwback to the 25th day of August when Caritas Nigeria trained 20 young men to be ambassadors and instructors of our latest gender-based violence (GBV) intervention, “No means No,” which seeks to reshape attitudes, challenge stereotypes, and promote respect and equality among genders.
With the support of The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), through the OVC Program, Caritas Nigeria is ramping up efforts to combat violence against girls, women, and men in our project states of Abia, Enugu, and Imo. To intensify the program results, Caritas Nigeria selected and trained 20 young men to trickle down GBV response mechanisms to the grassroots, with the ultimate goal of fostering a violence-free society.
The men, who were empowered to become catalysts for change in the implementing communities, were issued with certificates of participation upon completing the 2-weeks training. It is worth noting that the involvement of men as instructors and ambassadors underscores Caritas Nigeria’s acknowledgment of male participation as key to ending GBV.
