It was indeed a landmark achievement for the Deputy Executive Secretary (DES) of Caritas Nigeria, Very Revd. Father Peter Babangida Audu as he delightfully celebrated his 30th anniversary of priestly ordination on Saturday 29th October 2022 at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) Durumi, Abuja with the
entire Caritas Nigeria family, Friends, Relations, and the Durumi community in attendance to mark the day with him as a priest and humanitarian worker.
The event commenced with a thanksgiving mass with the Bishop of Sokoto, Most Revd Matthew Hassan Kukah with about eleven other priests. The ES, Caritas Nigeria Revd Fr. Uchechukwu Obodoechina in his homily noted that it was not easy carrying on the duties as a priest for thirty years in serving God and humanity. He prayed that God would stand by Very Rev. Fr. Peter, guide him, and grant him good health, and grace to continue to serve in God’s vineyard.
The homilist thanked the Bishop, Most Revd. Matthew Hassan Kukah, all the priests present, and the congregation for their deliberate efforts in making out time to celebrate a great priest.
The ceremony later moved to the reception hall of the Resource Centre, Catholic Secretariate of Nigeria where societies, organizations, and individuals extended goodwill messages and also supported the humanitarian services he is rendering to vulnerable persons and the less privileged in the society.
In appreciation, Very Revd. Fr. Peter commended everyone for the support, love, and cooperation given to him and requested more prayers.
For the DES, his desire always is to raise the campaign bar for the physical and mental well-being of people; do a random act of kindness, and create hope for the hopeless wherever he finds himself.
Very Revd Fr. Peter is an exceptional priest who hails from Ungwar Jirayi village of Ikulu Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf LGA, Kaduna state. He has provided among other basic amenities; boreholes for the Gidan Ali and Ungwar Jirayi communities in Kaduna State. He hope to erect an additional school building for JSS Gidan Ali in Zangon Kataf LGA, Kaduna State.
He was ordained a priest in the year 1992.
The event was effectively coordinated by the Caritas Nigeria family.
