Building on the successes of Financial Year 2023 (FY23), Caritas Nigeria, supported by the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency-funded Child Protection project in Borno state, has launched the 2024 Life Skills program across Bama, Banki, Monguno, and Maiduguri Metropolitan Council. This initiative aims to enhance the lives of beneficiaries by helping them realize and
utilize their potential, develop their skills, gain control over their behavior, make informed decisions, and embark on a path toward self-reliance.
In 2023, an assessment was conducted, resulting in the selection of 200 individuals (comprising 150 adolescent boys and girls and 50 caregivers) from various project locations. The selected persons were enrolled in context-specific viable skills training based on the project funder’s recommendations. Accordingly, they were taken through the process of producing pasta, soap, men’s local caps, and petroleum jelly.
By equipping participants with these essential life skills, Caritas Nigeria and UNHCR Nigeria are fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency among the beneficiaries, laying a strong foundation for #sustainabledevelopment and improved quality of life in the region.
