In Africa, The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), UNAIDS and Caritas are funding Caritas Nigeria, Caritas Congo Asbl, and Caritas Côte d’Ivoire to increase the demand for pediatric HIV services in Nigeria.
In conformity with the F.A.I.T.H project goal, Caritas Nigeria works with religious leaders in her program states of Abia, Enugu, and Imo to test and promptly treat children diagnosed with HIV. Further, pregnant women are supported with essential HIV testing and care services as part of the efforts to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
Sequel to the ongoing F.A.I.T.H Project Peer Review between Caritas Nigeria and Caritas DRC, a team from both organizations paid a courtesy call to the Enugu State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi. The visit aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the State and Caritas in scaling up HIV treatment services among children in the State.
Represented by Dr. Roolphe Olako, the DRC, Caritas Congo drew lessons from our F.A.I.T.H project implementation strategies, such as the innovative _Mother Love Party_. The team thereafter convened for a planning meeting and peer review sessions with some key religious stakeholders working on the project.
