Ahead of the transition of the United States-funded HIV program from implementing partners to the Government of Nigeria in 2026, Caritas Nigeria ACCESS project Chief of Party, Dr. John Oko led a delegation of the project team to a meeting with the Imo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Success Prosper, on October 6, 2023.
To ensure a smooth transition and sustainability of the HIV response in Nigeria, Dr. Oko explained that Caritas Nigeria, with support from the CDC, would work closely with relevant state structures for continued optimum service delivery until the transition process is achieved.
The meeting was held at the Imo State Specialist Hospital with key state partners, stakeholders, and representatives of other arms of the Imo State Government in attendance.
