On the 13th of March 2024, Umuoshi Avutu community in Obowo local government area of Imo State, Caritas Nigeria in partnership with Rosita Unique Care Foundation (RUCF), trained 35 caregivers and case managers of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in the step-by-step production of soya bean powder.
A mixture of blended natural fruits and seafood, Soya Plus seeks to meet the nutritional needs of malnourished children supported by Caritas Nigeria’s Accelerated Control of HIV Epidemic and Sustainability Solutions (ACCESS) Project.
Besides improving the feeding and health outcomes of vulnerable children, soya bean powder production has immense economic benefits for trained caregivers and case managers.
The training was possible with funding from The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the CDC, to provide caregivers and case managers with the requisite skills to produce Soya Plus.
