As part of activities under the CARES Act project in the last five months, Caritas Nigeria facilitated the vaccination of about 200,000 Nigerians for COVID 19.
Other achievements recorded include the sensitization of over 1,000,000 persons, contact tracing of 14,139 new cases, and the successful interview of 9,719 beneficiaries.
These activities were carried out in six states: Gombe, Kaduna, Plateau, Lagos, Rivers, and Enugu plus the FCT, in collaboration with partners including respective state public health departments, media partners, and civil society organizations.
Other fallouts include the capacity building of about 150 persons on Core and surge capacity for COVID-19 case investigation and contact tracing; SORMAS (Surveillance Outbreak Response Monitoring and Analysis System); COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Testing and Risk communication and community engagement.
There was also a massive provision of IEC materials such as COVID-19 Vaccine Resources for faith leaders, Messages of Hope posters, and Sermon guides for clerics.
The CARES Act project is expected to close by end of February 2022.
