Nourishing Vulnerable Children: The Soya Bean Powder Project

On the 13th of  March 2024, Umuoshi Avutu community in Obowo local government area of Imo State, Caritas Nigeria in partnership with Rosita Unique Care Foundation (RUCF), trained 35 caregivers and case managers of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in the step-by-step production of soya bean powder.

Enhancing Child Nutrition and Well-being through Soya Plus Production

Recently, in Orlu local government area of Imo State, where we implement the OVC program under the Accelerated Control of HIV Epidemic and Sustainability Solutions (ACCESS) Project in partnership with the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of Orlu Diocese, over 30 OVC caregivers and case managers were trained in soya plus production – a highly nutritious supplement that prevents malnutrition in children and aids their overall well-being.

Fostering a Culture of Continuous Improvement

Following the successful conclusion of the 2024 Staff Retreat of the Agencies of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), on January 10, 2024, Caritas Nigeria staff working in the Administrative Services Unit met in our headquarters to discuss strategies for enhancing the department’s operations. Reintegration Assistance to Nigerian Migrants from Belgium

Caritas Nigeria is currently in partnership with Caritas Belgium to provide reintegration support to Nigerians who have voluntarily returned from Belgium.  Activities: Joint pre-arrival counselling, medical support, temporary housing/shelter services, mental health and psychosocial counselling support, training, and business start-up and monitoring for 1 year.

Caritas Nigeria operates a male shelter in Benin City, Edo State to aid in the rehabilitation and reintegration of survivors of exploitation and abuse.
