Close-out of the 4GATES project in Delta State

In 2017, the CDC awarded Caritas Nigeria a 5-year comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment project – 4GATES (Global Action Towards Epidemic Control in Subnational units in Nigeria) – for implementation in Abia, Delta, Enugu, and Imo states.

Commemoration of Caritas Nigeria Day

September 24 of every year is observed as Caritas Nigeria Day; a day we reflect on our humanitarian strides since our establishment. Over the past twelve (12) years, Caritas Nigeria has sustained a faith-based yet all-inclusive approach to humanitarian situations in Nigeria on behalf of the Catholic Church in Nigeria.

Laudato Si Summit

In July 2022, Caritas Nigeria hosted a summit to mark the 7th anniversary of Laudato Si, the encyclical of Pope Francis. Introduced in 2015, Laudato Si encourages humans to heed the “cry of the earth and cry of the poor” by caring for the environment and reshaping the future of the earth.

Caritas Nigeria Benefits from UNHCR’s Mobility Aid

On August 26, 2022, Caritas Nigeria took delivery of 1 project vehicle and 4 motorcycles from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Presented by Mr. Tesfaye Bekele, Head of UNHCR Nigeria sub-office in Ogoja, Cross River State, the mobility support was aimed at facilitating project implementation in the state.

Commemoration of World Day Against Trafficking

Caritas Nigeria flagged off this year’s celebration of World Day Against Trafficking with a stakeholders’ engagement meeting in Ogoja, Cross River State where we are implementing the UNHCR-funded Protection Assistance for Cameroonian Refugees program.

Provision of Livelihood Assistance to Vulnerable Persons

 To cushion the impact of irregular migration in Nigeria and aid the socio-economic integration of migrants and internally displaced persons, Caritas Nigeria, with the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, reached out to forty (40) displaced women at the Malaysian Garden settlement camp in Abuja on August 14, 2022.
