Courtesy Call to the British High Commission in Abuja

A delegation of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) led by the Secretary-General, Rev. Fr. Zacharia Samjumi on the 13th of March 2024, paid a courtesy call to the British Deputy High Commissioner in Abuja, at Gill Lever1, to introduce the Director of the National Catholic Service Centre (NCSC) and discuss matters of mutual interest between the Catholic Church in Nigeria and the British government.

Aligning Strategies and Cultivating Cohesion: Insights from Caritas Nigeria’s Operations Meeting

On February 28th, 2024, the Project Coordination Team (PCT) gathered at the Caritas Nigeria country office in Abuja for an Operations Meeting aimed at aligning strategies across all programs and projects. The PCT, established by management, aims to cultivate a consistent organizational culture in program implementation despite utilizing diverse strategies, approaches, templates, systems, and structures across projects.

Designing Plans for Progress: Next Quarter of the ACCESS Project

In a bid to enhance cooperation with our partners and quality performance on the Accelerated Control of HIV Epidemic and Sustainability Solutions (ACCESS) project funded by The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the CDC, our team implementing the
Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s (OVC) intervention – a component of the ACCESS project in Enugu State met with our collaborators to reflect on program activities and discuss key improvement areas.

Enhancing Child Nutrition and Well-being through Soya Plus Production

Recently, in Orlu local government area of Imo State, where we implement the OVC program under the Accelerated Control of HIV Epidemic and Sustainability Solutions (ACCESS) Project in partnership with the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of Orlu Diocese, over 30 OVC caregivers and case managers were trained in soya plus production – a highly nutritious supplement that prevents malnutrition in children and aids their overall well-being.

Fostering a Culture of Continuous Improvement

Following the successful conclusion of the 2024 Staff Retreat of the Agencies of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), on January 10, 2024, Caritas Nigeria staff working in the Administrative Services Unit met in our headquarters to discuss strategies for enhancing the department’s operations. The gathering brought together several staff from across our state offices to brainstorm and acknowledge achievements recorded in the previous year within the department.
