Caritas Nigeria maximizes the International Women’s Day (IWD) event, marked annually on March 8, to amplify the global campaign against gender norms that deepen inequality, impede the personal well-being of women, and affect the advancement of humanity.
Over the years, Caritas Nigeria has supported women to harness their potential, pursue their passions, and excel in their professions. In recognition of the priceless gift to humanity, we celebrated our female workers, who consistently defy gender biases to ensure sustainable growth in the workplace and society.
Celebrated under the theme, Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow, the week-long International Women’s Day 2022 event at Caritas Nigeria state offices featured memorable activities, like a webinar and commemorative Mass to honour the work and successes of Caritas Nigeria women. Striking the Break the Bias pose, the menfolk of Caritas Nigeria added their voices to the campaign against stereotypes, discrimination and inequalities that limit women from excelling in their chosen fields.
In a show of solidarity and appreciation for their contributions to the organization, our Executive Secretary/CEO, Rev. Fr. Uchechukwu Obodoechina, gifted all women of the CBCN agencies with aesthetically-appealing African fabrics that accentuated their beauty. Additionally, our team in Ogoja leveraged IWD to enlighten adolescent girls of the Government Technical College, Ogoja on risky behaviours that could deter them from achieving the future they desire.
