Clearly evident in her tracts is the increasing number of lives and communities that have been impacted or transformed through her interventions. Leveraging the Church’s structure Caritas Nigeria serves as the umbrella organization for all the regional institutions of the Church through which the implementation of development-oriented programs and interventions are carried out. Caritas Nigeria is also a member of Caritas Internationalis, a global confederation 166 member nations that share a common mission and have literally touched every part of the world over the last century

Caritas Mandate
By the mandate of the Universal Church, Caritas is “the outreach of the Church to those in need”. This encapsulates all the interventions carried out across the globe by different sub-entities under this global brand. Caritas Nigeria exercises this mandate by channelling her interventions, projects and activities through six core Thematic Areas namely: Emergency and Humanitarian Response; Health & HIV; Agriculture & Livelihoods; Good Governance; Institutional Capacity Strengthening (ICS); and, Anti-Human Trafficking & Migration. All six thematic areas pivot around ICS. Two additional thematic areas, Education and Gender are silent but cross-cutting and are streamlined into all the other six thematic areas making the organization’s programs more robust and fit in all respects.
