As an approved training organisation, Caritas Nigeria offers training and consulting services to civil society organisations, multilateral organisations, international/local non-governmental organizations (I/NGOs), and government agencies through the Project Management for Development Professionals (PMD Pro) certification course, which is designed to…

meet corporate systems strengthening needs.

PMD Pro extensively discusses the processes, skills, tools and techniques involved in managing projects from their conception to completion. The last quarter saw Caritas Nigeria engage over 200 professionals in the capacity-strengthening exercise across our regional offices in Abia, Delta, Enugu and Imo, as well as our country office in Abuja. Ultimately, the activity enhanced the project management skills of Caritas Nigeria staff and other I/NGOs who participated in their numbers as follows; Abia (59), Abuja (30), Delta (56), Enugu (40), and Imo (45).

Today, our Executive Secretary/CEO, Rev. Fr. @uchechukwu_fr_obodoechina, PhD, was joined by staff and his friends and wellwishers at a Thanksgiving Mass marking his 8th year in office as the Director of the Church and Society Department of Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria and CEO of #Caritas Nigeria.

In his homily, Most Rev. Isaac Dugu, Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, reflected on key moments of Fr. Obodoechina’s service and urged the lay faithful to cultivate a spirit of prayer, steadfastness, and gratitude to God, even in difficult times.

Drawing a parallel between Fr. Obodoechina’s leadership and Caritas Nigeria’s mission of helping the poor and vulnerable, and the Universal Church’s commemoration of the Guardian Angels today, Most Rev. @godfreyionah, the officiating minister and Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, encouraged the congregation to embody the compassion of angels through increased acts of charity towards one another.

The Mass was followed by a warm reception attended by the Priests, Religious, and staff members of @catholicsecretariatofnigeria, as well as other guests. The country representatives of our in-country partners, @catholicreliefservices, @cafod, and @misereor, also joined the celebration.

Rev. Fr. Obodoechina expressed profound gratitude to God and the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria for the opportunity to serve humanity, stressing the numerous blessings and graces he experienced throughout his tenure, which began on October 2, 2016. He also took the opportunity to unveil his latest book, Becoming the Change You Desire.

In closing, our Deputy Executive Secretary, Rev. Fr. Peter Audu, thanked the clergy, staff, dignitaries, friends, and well-wishers, whose participation made the Thanksgiving celebration memorable.
