Support for Voluntary Return and Sustainable Reintegration for Returnee Migrants

The Stable, Trained, and Empowered Migrant (STEM) Project, on Friday 28 October 2022  provided 75 newly reached beneficiaries who concluded training in fashion design, hairdressing, fish farming, and barbing skills as well as entrepreneurship skills, with relevant start-up items to kickstart their businesses.

A breakdown of the skills and the total number of persons per skill who benefitted from this charity is illustrated below:

  • Fish farming – 11 persons (10M, 1F): each of these persons received 11 bags of fish feeds, 1 tarpaulin pond, 200 juvenile fishes, as well as feed supplements
  • Barbing – 13 persons (13M): they each received a barbing chair, a generator set, a clipper, apron, mirror, cover cloth, set of towels, roll of neck paper, hair and powder brush, set of combs and 2 plastic chairs and were supported with shop rent
  • Fashion Design – 19 persons (4M, 15F): Each of them received an industrial sewing machine, a generator set and supported with shop rent
  • Hair Dressing – 32 persons (32F): each of the beneficiaries received a generator set, standing dryer, hand-held dryer, hair-washing stand, mirror and 2 plastic chairs and were supported with shop rent also. 
  • Overall, this brings to a total of 307 new persons  who have been empowered and certified with vocational skills and complementary items to start businesses in 2022.

This support is funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) within the framework of the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) support for voluntary return and sustainable reintegration for returnee migrants from Germany and other third countries, local population and internally displaced persons in Edo state and the FCT.
