To enhance the expertise of linkage, retention, and tracking assistants, the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and U.S. CDC Nigeria-funded ACCESS project in Imo State, Caritas Nigeria conducted a 4-day training for representatives of community-based organizations, the Imo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA), and the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) from March 13-16, 2024.
Participants had their knowledge broadened in the area of linkage, retention, and re-engagement in the treatment of people living with HIV (PLHIV) to achieve viral suppression and provision of life-saving care and treatment.
Likewise, the capacity-building exercise provided participants with avenues to adopt innovative strategies for patient retention, tackle misconduct, foster teamwork, and encourage resilience within the target population. The trainees also had an opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge through hands-on group activities.
