- I find it expedient to come back to you today after some moments of break and recreation. Such moments add valour and strength. It affords one the opportunity to look back and take some records and re-examine what has been and what one would like to institute. The period has been worthwhile.
- Today we would like to reflect on the theme: Re-thinking Strategy and Operations. You already know that our times are thoroughly challenging. We have crisis in our hands coming from diverse sources and quarters. Yet we are not giving up. Though the times are bad, we are being encouraged to remain steadfast and resilient. That is why we can continue to implement our programs, taking the risks and saving the life of others across the states in complete defiance of all odds. We are optimistic of God’s enduring grace.
- It is not for nothing that God continues to show us his favours. The news of our winning the next round of grants is everywhere. How did it happen again? Yes, we have been doing our work well. We have good hands under our employments. We have written good proposals with expertise and zeal. We have also enjoyed some good will of some people somewhere. And indeed, God has been for us and with us. That is the secret of our success. And we are deeply grateful.
- In the new dispensation, I think, we must begin to re-think our strategy and our operations. Though the old was good, but we must improve on the status quo. The on-going Strategic plan processes, and the CDC-Business Systems Review findings and recommendations make it imperative that we must re-think strategy and our operations. Certainly, things would not remain the same. Some of the changes might be uncomfortable while some would be admired.
- Looking at the future with optimism, we must set time aside to re-view the strategies and operations hitherto in use and evaluate same in the context of the current challenges. For instance, the poor orientation and knowledge of the Organization by Staff, cannot be allowed to go on. Neither shall we allow the obvious poor team spirit among some Staff in some of the states to go on unaddressed. The civil-service attitude to work would certainly not be allowed to thrive further. What of the truancy and ‘stepped out’ attitude of Staff, who collude and encourage the evil practices of absenteeism without due process? The new strategy of an organization- centered approach and efficient operational dynamics would put the cat before the horse. We would be eager to meet the guy who saw tomorrow!
- Meanwhile, we would be working in 3 states of the Southeast, instead of 4. That calls for some sober reflections!
