OVC intervention empowers adolescents in Abia State

Share:

The Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s (OVC) intervention currently implemented by Caritas Nigeria under The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and CDC-funded ACCESS project has empowered 18 more adolescents in Abia State with vocational skills.
Working collaboratively with the Justice Development and Peace Commissions (JDPC) in Aba and Umuahia Dioceses, as well as the Rural Development Planners International (RUDEP), Uzoakoli, Caritas Nigeria, with funding from the United States Government, procured trade start-up tools for these young persons, who were trained in hair-dressing, tailoring, and aluminum fabrication.
At a start-up tools distribution ceremony, which was also attended by stakeholders of the communities where we work, including traditional rulers, the Catholic Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Most Rev. Michael Ukpong, presented the business start-up kits to the beneficiaries to support their journey to economic stability.
