JDPC Ikot-Ekpene Staff Trained in Fundraising and Project Development

Caritas Nigeria’s Business Development and Institutional Capacity Strengthening teams, with support from CAFOD, recently facilitated a three-day capacity-building training for the staff of the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Ikot-Ekpene Diocese. The training took place under the Freedom Project and was led by Ijeoma Akadoronye, Mr. Cletus Alu, and Osas Igein. The purpose of the training was to equip JDPC staff with the skills and knowledge needed to secure funding for grassroots initiatives. Participants were introduced to key concepts in Project Co-Creation, Local Resource Mobilization, fundraising strategies, and proposal writing. Modules covered included donor motivation, detailed funding mapping, and the development of an innovative strategy suited to today’s funding landscape. The sessions were designed to be practical and interactive, moving beyond theory to include hands-on activities. Staff members engaged in group tasks that helped them apply new techniques such as building robust donor databases and crafting compelling proposals. These exercises aimed to strengthen JDPC’s capacity to fulfill its mission more effectively through sustainable resource mobilization.
