On 10 February 2026, residents of Olorunda/Igbaga in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos welcomed a team from Caritas Nigeria to witness how a livelihood intervention is transforming their community. What began as support under the Building Sustainable Livelihoods for Vibrant Communities (B-SLiC) project has grown into a locally driven enterprise producing briquettes for homes and for the market.
The visit brought together men and women who demonstrated how they have organized themselves to continue the work with unity and determination. Using the skills transferred through the project, they confidently produced and packaged briquettes, turning training into income and shared effort into real opportunity.
This progress shows how the initiative funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is taking firm and sustainable root. Beyond providing an alternative energy source, the project is strengthening livelihoods, deepening cooperation, and restoring dignity through meaningful work.
With gratitude, the community thanked Caritas Nigeria and its partner, the Daughters of Charity Congregation, for believing in them and bringing the opportunity closer to their lives.
