Combating Human Trafficking at College of Nursing Science, Ogoja Campus

Share:

In continuation of our anti-human trafficking campaign, through the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and UNHCR Nigeria-supported Mixed Movement activities, our team held a dialogue forum for staff and students of the Cross River State College of Nursing Science, Ogoja Campus. The meeting highlighted the dangers, trends, and causes of human trafficking and how
best to prevent the menace in their communities.
The audience demonstrated their basic understanding of trafficking in persons. Citing the tendencies to yield to “japa” (migration) pressure, the audience remarked that traffickers often prey on desperate youths who are willing to explore dangerous routes to migrate. Sensitizing them on the need to shun the common baits used by human traffickers, the Caritas Nigeria team encouraged the students to properly scrutinize job adverts on the internet and remain focused on their studies, which can pave the way for regular migration.
