For Nnamuchi Chidubem Modester, the world of beauty and hairstyling had always held a special place in her heart. However, she lacked the formal training and opportunities needed to turn her passion into a profession. Everything changed when she was enrolled by CIDJAP, a dedicated Community-Based Organization (CBO) implementing the 4GATES Project in Enugu State.
Through this opportunity, Chidubem began her journey into the art and skill of professional hair styling. With perseverance and an eagerness to learn, she immersed herself fully in her training, mastering techniques ranging from braiding and weaving to styling all hair types. Her trainers admired her commitment, creativity, and steady progress as she perfected her craft.
Upon completing her training, Chidubem didn’t just walk away with new skills; she stepped into a new chapter of her life. She was provided with start-up kits, equipping her with the essential tools she needed to begin her own hairstyling work independently. With these resources and her newly acquired skills, she confidently launched herself into the beauty industry.
Today, Chidubem proudly plaits and styles all types of hair, offering quality services that reflect her passion, hard work, and determination, and has also offered to train 2 adolescents like her. Thanks to the support of CIDJAP, Caritas Nigeria, and the US CDC, she has transformed her dreams into a tangible, thriving livelihood.
Her journey stands as a powerful reminder that when young people are given the right skills and tools, they can build sustainable futures and inspire others along the way.
