Celebrating Peace, Strengthening Bonds: Oruru-Ukwu Festival and HIV Advocacy

Recognizing the role of communities in achieving HIV epidemic control, our team in Imo State joined the Enyiogugu community in the Aboh Mbaise local government area at their annual Oruru-Ukwu festival which celebrates peace and strengthens bonds.
To further demonstrate our advocacy for a participatory approach in curbing new HIV infections and creating access to adequate treatment and care, we leveraged the ceremony to organise a medical outreach, where over a hundred persons, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children, benefitted from HIV testing services, consultations, and medications for other health needs.
