Recognizing the role of communities in achieving HIV epidemic control, our team in Imo State joined the Enyiogugu community in the Aboh Mbaise local government area at their annual Oruru-Ukwu festival which celebrates peace and strengthens bonds.
To further demonstrate our advocacy for a participatory approach in curbing new HIV infections and creating access to adequate treatment and care, we leveraged the ceremony to organise a medical outreach, where over a hundred persons, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children, benefitted from HIV testing services, consultations, and medications for other health needs.
