Recently, Caritas Nigeria collaborated with UNHCR Nigeria and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to deliver critical humanitarian assistance in the Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. This coordinated response was launched in direct reaction to the Easter attacks in Mbalom, which left many families facing sudden displacement and significant loss.
By targeting 18 of the most severely affected households, the intervention provided a vital lifeline to those in immediate need. The relief effort focused on restoring basic safety and comfort through the distribution of essential non-food items, including mattresses, blankets, and solar lights. These resources aim to stabilize living conditions and support families as they begin the difficult process of recovery following the recent violence.
