Caritas Nigeria organized the Humanitarian Coordination and Support for Disengagement, Review, Reintegration and Reconciliation (SD3R) Project Closeout Meeting in Yola, Adamawa State from 25th – 26th August, 2026. The two-day meeting brought together Adamawa State Government representatives, community stakeholders and project teams to reflect on achievements, lessons learned and the impact of the intervention.
In an opening remarks by the Director, Humanitarian Service and Early Recovery, Nkese Maria Udongwo, noted that the meeting will provide an important platform to review the progress made, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders.
Implemented in Gulak and Shuwa communities of Madagali Local Government Area and Malkohi in Yola South, the SD3R project funded by the European Union in Nigeria through UNDP in Nigeria and implemented by Caritas Nigeria, reached over 500 beneficiaries, supporting reintegration, resilience and recovery through livelihoods, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), social cohesion and peacebuilding, community engagement and Small Infrastructure Projects (SIP).
The meeting concluded with updates from ECHO SAHaRA, and NORAD, stakeholder reflections, beneficiary success stories, Catholic Social Teaching, and presentations on other humanitarian interventions.
The Adamawa State Government commended Caritas Nigeria for its continued commitment to serving affected populations and contributing to peaceful, resilient and cohesive communities.
