The 10th Caritas Nigeria Regional General Assembly commenced on 8th May and through 10th May 2023, at the Casa La Salle Hotel in Rome, Italy. The Assembly drew over 90 delegates from 46 countries. At the event,
Caritas Nigeria was represented by the Episcopal Chair and Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, and Caritas Nigeria Executive Secretary/CEO, Rev. Fr. Dr. Uchechukwu Obodoechina.

During the gathering, the delegates engaged in fruitful discussions on the future of Caritas in Africa and its commitment to promoting the continent’s development.
Meanwhile, elections into the offices of the President, the Secretary Executive Regional, and the Treasurer General were conducted, where Msgr. Pierre Cibambo and Lucy Esipila emerged as President and Regional Coordinator of Caritas Africa respectively.
MaAlistair Dutton of SCIAF and Kirsty Robertson of Caritas Australia also emerged as the new Secretary-General and Vice President of Caritas Internationalis, respectively.
