Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) and Mixed Movement Activities, under the Protection Assistance to Cameroonian Refugees Project
Funder: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
Project Goal: Persons vulnerable to human trafficking have increased knowledge of human trafficking in target communities and local government areas (LGAs).
Locations: 20 communities from 10 Local Government Areas across Edo (Uhunmwonde, Esan North East, Esan Central, Ovia North East, Egor, Etsako West, and Owan East LGAs) and Cross River (Ogoja, Boki, and Ikom LGAs) States.
Strategic Objective and Targets: Increased awareness and sensitization on Human Trafficking and safe migration; 50,000 persons in 10 Vulnerable LGAs in 2 States are sensitized on the ills of human trafficking and how to facilitate an effective response to trafficking. Community members also become aware of and can adopt safe migration practices as a result.
Activities: Stakeholders sensitization, mobilization, and engagements in 20 Communities across 10 LGAs in Edo and Cross Rivers State, selection and engagement of community volunteers, conducting baseline survey in communities, formation of Community Watch Groups (CWGs), formation of AHT Clubs in secondary schools, Schools and community-based awareness and sensitization campaigns, create linkages to law enforcement agencies especially NAPTIP, to facilitate response.
Other Partners: Relevant CSOs, NAPTIP, Migrant Resource Center (MRC), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Edo Taskforce Against Human Trafficking (ETAHT).
