Caritas Delegation Visits Cardinal Onaiyekan, Strengthens Collaboration on Humanitarian Response

The Caritas delegation, alongside our Executive Secretary/CEO, Fr Peter Audu, with other staff members of Caritas Nigeria, paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, to discuss humanitarian responses in North-East Nigeria, key development priorities, and opportunities for deeper institutional collaboration.
During the visit, Fr. Peter Audu introduced the delegation to His Eminence and expressed appreciation for his continued support to Caritas Nigeria and the Catholic Church in Nigeria. The discussion provided an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing humanitarian challenges facing vulnerable and crisis-affected communities in the North-East and the need to strengthen collective efforts to respond to their needs.
In his response, His Eminence appreciated Caritas Internationalis and Caritas Norge for their continued contributions to humanitarian and development work in North-East Nigeria and across the country. He emphasised the importance of sustaining and deepening collaboration to ensure that humanitarian interventions remain effective, reach those who need them most, and contribute to lasting development. The engagement reaffirmed the importance of partnership, solidarity, and coordinated action in addressing humanitarian challenges.
