To improve safety and access to basic household lightening for displaced families in Benue State, Caritas Nigeria, with funding support from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, distributed household solar kits to displaced persons living in Adaka Community, Makurdi Local Government Area. A total of 23 beneficiaries received solar kits, while Caritas staff also provided guidance on how to install and make use of them safely.
For families without regular access to electricity, the solar kits will provide much-needed light at night, allow them to charge their mobile phones, and improve visibility around their shelters. Beyond providing light, the intervention will help families feel safer, especially at night.
By responding to practical needs and supporting vulnerable families, this intervention has shown the continued commitment of Caritas Nigeria and UNHCR to promoting safety, dignity, and resilience among displaced communities in Benue State, as we continue to bring meaningful change to communities affected by displacement.
