B-SLiC Phase 2 End-of-Project Review and Close-out Meeting in Lagos

On the 18th of August, 2026, Caritas Nigeria, with funding support from Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, concluded the B-SLiC Phase 2 End-of-Project Review and Close-out Meeting in Lagos, bringing together the Caritas Nigeria team, project partners, stakeholders, and community representatives to reflect on a remarkable journey of building sustainable livelihoods and vibrant communities. In his welcome remarks, the Executive Secretary/CEO of Caritas Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Peter Babangida Audu, reminded participants that at the heart of Caritas’ work is a simple yet powerful call to serve others with compassion, dignity, and love. Drawing from the Catholic Social Teachings, he emphasised the importance of seeing every person not just as a beneficiary of an intervention, but as an individual with dignity, potential, and the right to live a meaningful life.
The Director of Humanitarian Services, Mrs. Nkese Udongwo, outlined the objectives of the meeting, donor expectations, and key project dynamics. She emphasised the importance of effective coordination, accountability, and adherence to project requirements in ensuring successful implementation.
With participation from our partners, the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus (EHJ), Sisters of St. Louis, Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and Sisters of St. Michael the Archangel, the meeting provided an opportunity to celebrate achievements, share lessons, listen to community voices, and strengthen the path towards sustainability. In Phase 2 of the B-SLiC implementation, the project reached 5,212 households, representing 26,060 direct beneficiaries across all project components in Ekiti and Lagos States.
Stakeholders expressed gratitude and shared how B-SLiC has contributed to meaningful changes in their communities. As the project closes, the story of impact continues in the hands, homes and communities of the people reached.
