In Daudu Community, Makurdi Local Government Area of Benuestate, Caritas Nigeria, with funding support from the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and UNHCR Nigeria, distributed solar household kits to herder households residing along the Zongo–Tatyough Road. The intervention forms part of broader efforts to improve safety, protection, and living conditions for vulnerable populations.
To further enhance community safety, solar streetlights have been installed in both herder and farmer communities, improving visibility at night and enabling households to carry out essential activities after dark with reduced exposure to protection risks, including snake bites. For beneficiaries, the solar kits provide a reliable source of lighting while contributing to improved living conditions, greater security, and peace of mind.
The intervention reflects the commitment of Caritas Nigeria, with support from UNHCR Nigeria, to inclusive protection, ensuring vulnerable populations are reached without discrimination while promoting peaceful coexistence and stronger relationships between communities.
Caritas Nigeria together with UNHCR Nigeria remains committed to building safer and more peaceful communities where everyone can live with dignity and hope.
