Caritas Nigeria Honored for Longstanding Support at Uromi JDPCI @ 20

On May 20, 2026, Caritas Nigeria was honored with an Award of Recognition by the Uromi Justice Development, Peace and Caritas Initiatives (Uromi JDPCI) during their 20th Anniversary celebration in Uromi, Edo State. This prestigious milestone marked two decades of dedicated service by Uromi JDPCI in promoting justice, peace, human dignity, and sustainable community development across Esan Land. Representing the Executive Secretary of Caritas Nigeria, Fr. Peter Audu, Barr. Onomen Oriakhi accepted the award, which celebrated the long-standing partnership and collaborative efforts between the two organizations.

The anniversary events commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass presided over by the host and legal proprietor, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Donatus Ogun. In a moving homily, the Bishop urged attendees to “act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God,” emphasizing that justice, compassion, and selfless service are the core foundations needed to build a peaceful and equitable society.

The gathering brought together a distinguished network of development partners, traditional rulers, government agencies, NGOs, and clergy. A notable highlight of the day was the presence of Her Excellency Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Edo State, who served as the Mother of the Day. She officially unveiled two landmark publications documenting local impact and heritage: Legacy Book: Uromi JDPCI Celebrates 20 Years of Impact and Codes of Esan Common Laws and Practices, Vol. 1.

Caritas Nigeria extends its warmest congratulations to Uromi JDPCI on this remarkable 20-year milestone. We celebrate their unwavering commitment to transforming communities and look forward to many more years of fruitful collaboration in faith and action.
