Advancing Youth Empowerment Through School Clubs

Caritas Nigeria, led by Dr. Ella Austin, in collaboration with school authorities, PTA members, and government representatives, engaged students in selected schools following the Caritas Nigeria @15 Anniversary Essay Competition held last year. Building on this momentum, the organization established Caritas Clubs in Himma International School, Minna (Niger State); Abiolus School, Lagos State; and Bishop Okoye Memorial College, Enugu State, alongside a courtesy visit within the Enugu Diocese. Through these engagements, Caritas Nigeria introduced its mission and vision to students and stakeholders and recognized outstanding students with awards to stimulate interest and encourage broader youth participation.

These efforts were driven by the goal of inspiring a new generation of changemakers, promoting humanitarian values, and strengthening youth involvement in charity, social justice, and community development. The initiative was implemented through targeted school visits, strategic stakeholder engagement, and awareness sessions led by Dr. Ella Austin, complemented by award presentations and collaboration with educational and religious leaders.

Commitments from key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education representative, Alh, further reinforced this approach. Usman Abdullahi, and the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Ernest Obodo, ensuring sustained support and impact while deepening Caritas Nigeria’s mission of building a compassionate and socially responsible generation.
