Strengthening Protection Response in Benue State

Strengthening technical capacity and field preparedness for effective humanitarian response in Benue State remained the key focus of the NHF-PROTECT Project training. Facilitated by UNHCR technical experts, participants engaged in practical sessions covering protection tools, Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms, vulnerability screening, electronic data collection, data quality management, and reporting procedures.

Participants also received training on key aspects of Cash-Based Interventions (CBI), focusing on accountability, transparency, fraud prevention, and Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM). Through hands-on sessions, trainees learned to use the UNHCR KoboCollect application for real-time digital data gathering and field reporting.

In addition, newly recruited supervisors underwent advanced facilitation sessions on coordination, accountability systems, escalation protocols, and community-level PROTECT training delivery to enhance field effectiveness in Makurdi and Guma LGAs of Benue State.

The three-day exercise concluded with closing remarks by the Head of Sub Office, Ogoja, Irene Omindi, who commended participants for their dedication and encouraged them to apply the skills acquired to strengthen protection services for displaced communities.
