Caritas Nigeria, with funding support from UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), has launched a three-day intensive Training of Trainers (ToT) programme under the NHF-PROTECT Project in Benue State, bringing together newly recruited staff, INGO partners, and government MDAs to strengthen life-saving protection interventions. The training targets key operational areas in Makurdi and Guma LGAs, where displaced populations continue to face urgent humanitarian challenges, and is facilitated by UNHCR experts delivering sessions on protection monitoring, cash-based interventions (CBI), and digital data collection to enhance a more efficient and data-driven response.
Beyond technical capacity building, the programme is deliberately structured to deepen local accountability and improve the quality of services provided to internally displaced persons (IDPs). By equipping participants with practical skills in vulnerability screening, fraud prevention, and post-distribution monitoring, the initiative empowers frontline actors to restore dignity and ensure more transparent, responsive, and impactful service delivery. This collaborative effort marks a significant step toward building resilient protection systems in Benue State that are both robust and responsive to the needs of the most vulnerable.
