As always, Caritas Nigeria joins the global community to amplify the voices of girls everywhere on this International Day of the Girl Child.
This year’s theme, “The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the frontlines of crisis,” reminds us that girls are agents of change. When girls are supported, educated, and empowered, communities thrive.
Yet, the reality remains concerning: girls aged 15–19 are twice as likely as boys to be out of education, employment, or training. In fragile contexts, they are nearly 90% more likely to be out of school than their peers in stable environments (UNICEF).
On this day, we renew our commitment to breaking these barriers and creating a future where every girl can lead, learn, and live with dignity.
