Recognizing Young Talents and Loyal Partners

The event opened with a Holy Mass presided over by His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, and concelebrated by Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, Archbishop of Abuja, and Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, Archbishop of Lagos and Board Chair of Caritas Nigeria .

In his homily, our Board Chair commended Caritas Nigeria for its steadfast commitment to fulfilling the vision for which it was established by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN). He highlighted that our work continues to be guided by honesty, integrity, transparency, and accountability, and prayed for our donors and funders whose generosity sustains these life-changing interventions.

The Mass was followed by a Symposium, which brought together our partners, donors, and well-wishers. Our Executive Secretary, Fr Peter Audu, highlighted our dedication, which has been a driving force behind our impact on more than 18 million people. Additionally, the CSN Deputy Secretary General and Director of Pastoral Agents, Rev. Fr. Augustine Okochi, acknowledged our significant contributions to the mission of the Church and the broader society.

A panel discussion on this year’s theme provided rich insights and meaningful engagement, highlighting strategies for sustaining humanitarian work despite dwindling resources. In his closing remarks, Dr. John Oko, the Chief of Party/Principal Investigator, appreciated all the guests for their solidarity and encouraged the staff to continue demonstrating resilience, compassion, and service to humanity.
