US-CDC Award to the Enugu State Government

The United State- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC) on Thursday 27 October awarded the Enugu State Government with an award of excellence for her leadership role in the HIV program, particularly for exemplary program support with HIV test kits, on the occasion of the CDC Biannual Program Performance Review meeting/2022 End of Project Cycle Symposium.

Dr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi, the Enugu State Commissioner for Health who received the award on behalf of the Governor was full of excitement. He appreciated Caritas Nigeria for the effective collaboration on the 4GATES HIV activities in the State. The Executive Hospital Administrator, Dr. Okechukwu P.  Ossai, said that the Enugu State government was among the five states honored with such an award, and noted that the work that Caritas Nigeria is doing in the state is evidence-based and that he is proud to be a part of the formidable team.

The State Team Lead, Mr. Fabian Bassey, was accompanied by Dr. Charles Onyegbado, the Technical Advisor, Mr. Fredrick Whezum, the Senior Program Manager, and, Dr. Chukwudi Okwor, the Senior Technical Specialist, Clinical Services C&T at the Commissioner of Health’s office.
