Strengthening Collaborations: Caritas Nigeria’s ACCESS Project and Government of Nigeria’s Efforts Against HIV

Share:

In an effort to strengthen collaborations between the Government of Nigeria and faith-based organizations in the fight against HIV, a delegation of our project team in Enugu state, led by the State Team Lead, Fabian Bassey, paid a courtesy visit to the new Commissioner for Child, Gender and Social Development, Mrs Ngozi Valentina Enih on Wednesday 13 September 2023.
Highlighting Caritas Nigeria’s achievements on the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and CDC–funded Accelerated Control of HIV Epidemic and Sustainability Solutions (ACCESS) project, the team shared our remarkable strides in the state with the Honourable Commissioner, particularly the Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s (OVC) program implemented alongside community-based organizations.
Affirming her commitment to sustain the existing relationship between the state and Caritas Nigeria, Mrs. Enih pledged the ministry’s support for our OVC intervention – a component of the ACCESS project – which reduces HIV burden on children and adolescents and their households through psychosocial support, economic empowerment, and educational aid.
