Caritas Nigeria team under the GRAIL Project on Saturday 10th September 2022 carried out a medical outreach for children under fourteen years of age at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Karu, Abuja.

About 250 children were attended to and over 150 were given anti-malaria drugs, worm expellants, and blood tonic. A few malnourished children received soya plus while none of the children tested positive for HIV/AIDS.

At the end of the event, an early and regular check-up for HIV/AIDS and malaria was recommended for the parents to ensure they have healthy and productive children.

GRAIL, an acronym for Galvanizing Religious Leaders for Accelerated Identification and Linkage to Pediatric  ART Project is currently in its fourth phase (GRAIL IV) and is aimed at engendering early diagnosis and treatment of HIV-positive children. The GRAIL Project which commenced in 2018 is funded by Caritas Internationalis with technical support from UNAIDS.
