Caritas Nigeria, UNHCR Distribute Solar Kits to Benue IDPs

Caritas Nigeria, with funding support from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency and UNHCR Nigeria, has distributed household solar kits to over 200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the International Market Camp in Makurdi, Benue State. The beneficiaries, who were displaced by the violence in Yelewata, included vulnerable groups such as older persons, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and persons with special needs. The intervention is part of ongoing efforts to improve living conditions and strengthen protection for displaced families.
The solar kits will provide families with reliable lighting, help them charge mobile phones and other essential devices, and improve visibility around their shelters at night. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and helpful in making life in the camp easier. Through continued collaboration, @caritasnigeria and @UNHCRnigeri are helping displaced families navigate the challenges of displacement while working towards safer, more resilient communities.
