Dr. Godwin Undie Ukel, PhD, KSM, is a key member of the Caritas Nigeria Senior Management Team. He currently serves as the Director of Internal Audit at Caritas Nigeria, a position he has held since October 2012. He operates within the Audit Unit and brings a strong academic background in Accounting, Forensic Investigation, and Forensic Psychology.
As the Head of Internal Audit, Dr. Ukel provides strategic leadership for the Internal Audit Unit across the entire organization. He upholds the objectivity and independence of the audit function, maintaining a direct reporting relationship with the Finance Committee of the Caritas Board of Directors. His responsibilities include fostering strong relationships with external auditors, donor agency reviewers, and relevant government regulatory bodies.
Dr. Ukel ensures strict compliance with internal control measures and operational policies by all staff members. He also conducts oversight of implementing partners and sub-grantees, particularly in ensuring adherence to both institutional and donor-specific policies.  Additionally, he is an appointed International Assessor by Caritas Internationalis, supporting the global confederation by evaluating member organizations against established Caritas Internationalis Management Standards (CIMS) and good standing rating.
