Project Summary
The Protection and Multi-sectoral Assistance program aims to provide integrated, life-saving, and resilience-building support to forcibly displaced persons, returnees, and vulnerable host communities in the Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria. The program focuses on delivering comprehensive protection services, including prevention and response to gender-based violence (GBV), child protection, legal assistance, and psychosocial support, while ensuring access to essential multi-sectoral services such as healthcare, livelihoods, Education, warehouse and inventory management, shelter, Cash and voucher assistance, Camp coordination, and camp management.
The role involves supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of protection-centered interventions that address the immediate and long-term needs of displaced and vulnerable populations. The program prioritizes survivor-centered and community-based approaches, strengthens referral pathways, promotes social inclusion, and enhances community resilience through collaboration with government agencies, community structures, and humanitarian partners.
The position contributes to ensuring that assistance is delivered in line with humanitarian principles, national policies, and international protection standards, while promoting dignity, safety, and sustainable recovery for the affected population
Job Summary.
The Medical Doctor will provide comprehensive, survivor-centered clinical care and medical support for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). The role involves ensuring quality medical management of GBV cases, strengthening referral systems, supporting community awareness, supporting the PHCs, and contributing to program implementation in line with national and international GBV clinical management guideline
Key Areas of Accountability.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
- Clinical Care and Case Management
- Provide emergency and routine medical care to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
- Conduct medical examinations and provide treatment following national GBV management protocols.
- Administer post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV, emergency contraception, STI treatment, and wound care where necessary.
- Provide psychological first aid and ensure survivor-centered, confidential, and non-discriminatory services.
- Properly document clinical findings and maintain accurate medical records.
- Support medico-legal documentation and testify in court when required.
- Program Implementation
- Support the implementation of GBV health interventions within healthcare facilities and outreach programs.
- Ensure availability and proper use of GBV clinical supplies and treatment kits.
- Strengthen referral pathways linking survivors to psychosocial, legal, and protection services.
- Participate in case management meetings and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Training and Capacity Building
- Train and mentor healthcare workers on GBV clinical management and survivor-centered approaches.
- Support development of standard operating procedures and clinical guidelines.
- Conduct supportive supervision to ensure quality GBV services.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and report GBV medical service data in line with organizational and donor requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical data management standards.
- Contribute to program reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
- Community Engagement and Advocacy
- Support community awareness activities on GBV prevention and available medical services.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings, health cluster meetings, and GBV coordination platforms.
- Report any program implementation problems promptly to the program director
- Assist in any other tasks when required by the organization

Qualification and Experience:
Qualified applicants must have:
- A degree in Medicine is required.
- Strictly qualified and registered national Medical Doctor from a recognized university/institute with minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- At least 2 years’ experience working on international health issues, especially in poor settings.
- Experience in the implementation of migration and refugee programs is an added advantage.
- Understanding of health surveillance and information systems/reporting.
- Proven ability and experience in planning and conducting formal training sessions on health and GBV.
- Proven capacity to supervise, train, and coach other staff and community workers.
- Possess strategic and analytical skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities, and can work effectively under pressure.
- Will be required to have regular interaction with a broad base of stakeholders, including facility staff and management, community, patients, donors, and other implementing partners.
