Caritas Nigeria, in partnership with Justice Development and Peace Commission of Benin Province held an Inter-faith Conference on Anti-human Trafficking at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center, Benin-City,  from 4th-5th October, 2017. At the end of the event, a communique was issued.

Inter-faith Conference on Anti-human Trafficking in Benin: Fr. Bassey’s Address

Caritas Nigeria Executive Secretary, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Bassey addressed participants at the Inter-faith Conference on Anti-human trafficking  that held in Benin, Edo State from 4 Р5 of October, 2017.


The event which was organized in collaboration with Justice Development and Peace Commission of the Arch-diocese of Benin had in attendance several faith-based leaders and traditional institutions in the South-South geopolitical region of Nigeria.

In his address, Fr. Bassey highlighted prevention as a key measure in stemming the menace posed by this ‘modern-day slavery’ while also drawing the attention of the Edo State Government and relevant government institutions to the recommendations made in the past by Special committees set up in relation to Human trafficking in Nigeria and as reflected in the 7th and 8th Nigerian Country Reports.
